Wandering around Town.

Or some pictures of Spring flowers and Easter buns!

DSC00018 Had a wander down to town today. It was another lovely spring day, sun was shining and the birds were singing their little heads off. Actually I had an appointment with the Bank about some life insurance that they thought they could do for less. Ended up that they couldn’t of course but still, it gave me ample opportunity to try out my new Sony camera and do some of my usual Easter buns and cakes shots. I am also including one of K taken yesterday when we went down to town for some shopping,  where she is  eagerly displaying an Easter egg  (she actually had the shop assistant get it down from its lofty perch just so that she could have her picture taken with it, talk about dropping hints!)

Gregg's buns,cakes and sandwiches

We tried to get a photo of one of the town pigeons entering Gregg’s cake shop (they are always hanging around there, can’t think why!) and I would have called it ‘Can I have six dozen breadcrumbs please?’ but they wouldn’t oblige. As it was so lovely I decided to walk home via the Library seeing as all the crocus’s and snowdrops are in full bloom. They look gorgeous. I took a panoramic shot of those as well. The walk home was very enjoyable, only spoiled by my back giving me gip.

A Crocus Stitch

Talking of K (which I wasn’t) she has been off wining and dining today with her dance class. They have all been for a meal this lunch time to the Three Nun’s at Mirfieid. She says that she didn’t have any wine because it was "£2.50p for a ‘small’ glass. (her description) but apparently the Carvery was nice.

She went in her ‘dressed up’ glitter top and black trousers and even styled her own hair! (didn’t ask me to do it for her for some strange reason)

Enjoy the pictures. Till next time!

Musings about our bus service.

As K and I sat on the bus yesterday slowly roasting thanks to the warm spring sunshine outside and the heat radiating from the bus heaters belting out around our feet, I began to imagine in my mind a set of rules presented to all the drivers on our particular route by the management and it went something like this;

Inside our sweltering bus

Rules for all drivers on the ***/*** route.

1. During the winter months when the outside temperature has dropped to below five degrees Fahrenheit , all drivers on this route must immediately turn off all bus heating. You may collect warm clothing and fleece lined jackets for your own personal use during the winter months. Bonus’s will be paid to all drivers who also leave the bus doors and windows open as much as possible.

2. During days when the outside temperature is above ten degrees, the bus heaters must be turned on fully. You may drive in shirt and light clothing to compensate. At this time bonus’s will be awarded to all drivers who keep their bus doors and windows shut during any warm weather.  Double bonus’s are awarded if this is during a summer heatwave.

3. You are not allowed under any circumstances  to stop for any passenger who is not stood at a designated bus stop. This includes any passenger of any age even if they are running towards said bus stop and waving  frantically at you. Failure to comply will be met with serious disciplinary measures.

4. All drivers are advised to keep applying the brakes followed quickly by the accelerator as much as possible during each journey.

5. A prominent warning is displayed on all buses that clearly states to all passengers NOT to get up from their seat if the bus is moving and to wait until the bus completely stops guarantees that if any passenger hurts themselves whilst being hurled down the aisle trying to get off at their stop you and this company are in no way held responsible for any injury they might sustain.  In the case of a passenger accident of this nature,  do not fail to point out  said notice.

6. If you fail to stop for a passenger because

a) they remained in their seat as per notice as you approached their chosen bus stop or

b) you failed to hear the bell because you were listening to your walkman, mobile  or any other music device or alternatively you were occupied day dreaming

you will not be held responsible for that passengers inconvenience in then having to alight at the next designated bus stop and walk back to their chosen bus stop. Nor are you required to offer any form of apology.

6. You are not obliged to speak to any passenger for any reason whatsoever, including if they say ‘thank you’ as they alight from the bus. You may grunt if you wish. Any driver found being civil or friendly with passengers will be severely reprimanded. Smiling at passengers is strictly forbidden and is a dismissible offence.

The Management.

New day, new camera.

Sony Cybershot camera We went out yesterday to buy a new camera. It’s a sort of combined Mothers Day/Birthday gift from K. (so she says) This time instead of buying a Samsung which has been my choice of camera for the last two I have owned, I decided to get a Sony Cyber shot instead. It has face recognition, smile recognition, 4 x digital zoom and I was amazed when I arrived home and saw how thin and small it was even compared to my old one. Tested it by taking a snap of K in her usual attire of ‘cheeky monkey’ pyjamas (you’d be hard pressed once we arrive back home to get a photo of her dressed as she is immediately back in her jamas before I have had time to climb the stairs.)

However the internal memory was only tiny, so this morning along with the usual food shop, I had found myself coughing up £15.00p  for a memory card for it.  On our way down there, I did manage to take a few pictures in the park, one close up of some crocus’s growing around the base of one of the trees, and the usual shot of the playground area and path.

It took me an absolute age to thaw out yesterday following our shopping stint, I have always been a cold thing, but as I have grown older I find it takes ages for me to feel warm again after being out in the cold. It was dismal as well, kept trying to rain all day. Today it was as different again, it had been freezing during the night and it was still fairly nippy as we walked down to Tesco’s but the gorgeous blue skies and early morning sunshine made up for the cold.

The mornings are lighter earlier, its nearly 18.00pm now and its still fairly light outside. Yes, spring is definitely here. Enjoy the photos.

Test Post for Sally.

Here’s the test post for Sally so that she can see just how to insert a full Photo Album into her posts on Blogger with Windows Live Writer.

1. Click on Photo Album from the right hand side Menu bar.

2. You are then asked to give your Photo Album a name. In this same pop up screen you can also see that you are not signed into Windows live Sky Drive where your photos included in the Album are going to be stored.

3.So if you already have a Windows Live ID just click on the blue login and sign in or alternatively if you do not have a Windows Live ID then just make one. (You can use any email address as your Live ID)

4. When you have done that, simply choose your photos either from the files on your computer or if you already have some photo albums stored in your SkyDrive you can choose from one of those. (see enclosed picture.)

5.If choosing to include photos/pictures from the files on your computer, then simply highlight them or ‘drag and drop’ them into the window. (This feature of dragging and dropping doesn’t always work, so if not, simply highlight the photos from your files and then click on open.) Then once all your chosen photos have been added to the window, click on Insert.

Now the Album will be shown inside your post in the default Spread formation and you can leave it like that or alternatively show it as scatter, fan or one of the other Album styles. It will also be to the left hand side (inline by default and you can place it to the centre, stretch it wider by clicking on it, then click and pull the corners.

6. Now click on the Photo Album and at the top of the Photo Album side bar you will see Set Album Privacy. Click on that and make sure that the first choice is ticked.

7. Click on publish when you have finished your blog post and then depending on how many photos your album has, it will be published to your blog (and the photos will go to your SkyDrive.)

If you still cannot view any of the photos in your album either inside your published blog post or when you click on View Full Album, then you will need to go to your SkyDrive by inputting your Windows Live ID and then adjusting the privacy options of that particular album.

Random Adventures with Randoms.

Or we’ve got an awful lot of sweets to scoff!

My two long term readers (if they are still reading following my recent rather stupid deletion of my email address associated with my Blogger blog) will no doubt be aware of my penchant for Rountrees Randoms, those small sweets consisting of various silly items. For those of you who haven’t  a clue about what they are then visit both your local shop or the Rountrees Randoms  Website to find out. As is usual for us, we bought a packet each to munch on the bus ride home, and were delighted to find that they are running a fantastic competition called Random Adventures.

The Gnome

The gist of it is inside only 50 packets they have placed a squashy jelly gnome and a ‘ticket’ which entitles you to one of 50 different adventures all over the world. Each different adventure is loosely based on one of the different random sweets found inside each packet. So for example, the teapot one inspires the ‘Mad Hatter’ adventure in the UK. There are some wonderful ones judging by the list. Searching for sea shells in the Seychelles based around the shell one or playing cards on a Mississippi paddle-steamer based around the club shape is another.

I quite fancy the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party myself at Ashdown Park in the UK. There are some wonderful adventures to choose from and if you aren’t lucky enough to win one of those, then each packet has a code on the back that you can enter online at www.rountrees-randoms.co.uk/randomadventures where you can win a free packet of Rountrees Randoms. Seeing as K and myself munch our way through quite a few packets of these sweets, then maybe, just maybe we might be in with a chance of winning a fantastic random adventure! Yippee! And of course I would blog all about it so that you could all share in the day.

Trouble with all this is we will no doubt be munching our way through even more packets of Randoms now! I have enclosed a Photo  album of some of the Random Adventures but there are many more, so get munching on those Randoms! Good luck.

Spring is in the Air

Every sight and every sound.

Garden_SnowdropsSince March arrived just a few days ago,

It’s brought with it Springtime and got rid of the snow.

This winter seemed endless with the snow and the cold

a horrible time for both young and for old.

I see snowdrops now peeping their heads through the ground,

and its nice to hear birds and their wonderful sound.

It’s blue skies and sunshine and smiles all the way.

A real pleasure to walk outside every day.
